Brookfield, CT
Brookfield is the home of 16,500 residents who have the good fortune to live in the beautiful rolling hills of western Connecticut. The two largest lakes in Connecticut border the Town of Brookfield, Candlewood Lake and Lake Lillinonah.
The town is divided into neighborhoods, with the largest being Brookfield Town Center (called “Four Corners”) and Brookfield Center, which is the historic district. In 2016, construction began to create a more inviting downtown area known as Brookfield Village.
Brookfield has easy access to State Route 7 and Interstate 84. The town is part of the “4 Route”, “7 Route” and “New Milford Loop” of bus transportation which are operated by HARTransit. A park and ride is located at 67 White Turkey Road Ext., and offers connections to nearby bus and train stations as well as nearby airports.
Brookfield is home to wide variety of shopping, dining, outdoor activities, and recreational facilities. Golf at Sunset Hill, a 9 hole public course designed by famous golfer, Gene Sarazen in 1936, where he practiced while staying at his Brookfield residence.
Residents and visitors alike enjoy Brookfield for its direct access to Candlewood Lake. It is home to Echo Bay Marina which offers daily boat rentals. Other town marinas are Candlewood East Marina and Brookfield Bay Marina both of which offer boat service and sales.
A popular Brookfield attraction is Down the Hatch, the only lakeside bar and restaurant on Candlewood Lake accessible by car or boat.
Brookfield’s Town Park Beach on Candlewood Lake features swimming, basketball and sand volleyball courts, picnic areas with tables and grills and a Lakeside Community Room with restrooms and a concession stand. Beach and boat passes are for residents only, and are sold at the Brookfield Parks and Recreation office.
