Newtown is a growing and lively part of Fairfield County while maintaining its “small town charm.” Newtown is bordered on the south by Easton and Redding, on the north by Bridgewater and Southbury, on the east by Oxford and Monroe, and on the west by Bethel and Brookfield. The town covers 60.38 square miles, making it the fifth largest town, area-wise, in the state. Newtown is comprised of the Borough, Sandy Hook, Hawleyville, Botsford, and Dodgingtown.

The town has a picturesque countryside whether it is the scenic foliage of autumn or the lush greenery of spring and summer. Paugussett State Forest, Orchard Hill Nature Center, and the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary are wonderful choices for local hiking trails. Pole Bridge Preserve is a 78 acre habitat of open space for the public to enjoy.
Eichler’s Cove Marina and Boat Launches have boat slips available for residents and non-residents for a fee paid to the parks and recreation department. This gives boater’s access to Lake Zoar.
Lake Lillinonah Park gives Newtown residents boat access to the lake.
